A bit about the movie

The movie is about a hard working man called Derek who has a high powered office job, a wife called Sharon and a young child. At the begging of the movie we see that the couple are just moving in to their new house in the suberbs, Derek's job is going very well and everything seems very peaceful until we meet Derek's new office temp, Lisa, in the lift. She gets a lot of screen time which shows that she is going to be important to the film however she also seems like she could be a test to Derek's marriage because she gets a lot of close up body shots of her legs in a sexual/seductive way. 

As the movie develops we then start to see how this movie fits the thriller genre because of the 'Temp girls' desire to get close to Derek. She goes to many extremes to get close to him which adds to the tension of the movie and brings it along. There are a lot of twists and turns throughout the movie and we wonder how the couple will last until we reach the end of the movie where we get a sort of happy ending because off the tragic fall of Lisa where she sadly dies allowing the couple to continue with their lives and attempt to get as close to being back to normal as possible.

Meeting the characters

Derek Charles

Derek is a hard working, loving, family man who is very proud of his only son. He seems to be very patient and believes fully in the nuclear family function where the parents should be married and the wife should stay home and take care of the children and the man should go out and be the 'bread winner' and support the family.

He the most screen time in the movie and gets a lot of low angle shots showing that he is generally in control and powerful. When the temp Lisa comes around she throws this off course and this is when we start to see him with more and more high angle shots making him look less in control and more vulnerable.

Sharon Charles

Sharon is the ex office worker of Derek and is now his wife. She comes across as quite insecure and jealous at times. We see straight away that her and the character Lisa do not get along and that their is tension between them. We see that she is strong and rather equal if not slightly dominant in their marriage.

She just like Derek gets a lot of screen time and also gets a lot of low angle shots of her. Also in the action scenes between her and Lisa she also tends to be the dominant strong character between them and also the one who is in control shown through her low angle shots.

Lisa

Lisa seems like the crazed office temp that because of her job, comes across as efficient at the start however this efficiency soon changes as she crosses the line and starts to show her obsessive ways and her unstable mindset.

She also gets a lot of screen time and gets a lot of close up body shots of her legs showing her in a sexual light. As the movie progresses and she becomes more sinister we see a lot more close ups of her hands, her torso and her feet adding to the mystery of this new office temp.

The sound

We get a lot of Non-diegetic sound playing over the movie. At the start the music is quite humble, and calm disguising the fact that this is a thriller movie. In the action scenes we get the exaggerated diegetic sounds such as the door slamming or the doorbell ringing which creates tension and holds the audiences attention. Also later on in the movie when we find out that their is something sinister about Lisa we get more slow sinister music that plays in the scenes she is 

in.
