Research & Practice

introduction to soundtrack

We were given a chat about how to get on to and use soundtrack and we where asked to watch and take notes as we were about to use it for ourselves to put on the non-diegetic music over our Arlington Road clips.

after watching and taking notes it was time for us to try it for ourselves. We had to get out our hard drives and had to open up our Arlington Road clips on to final cut pro. We then had to export it to soundtrack and save it on our desk top so that when we opened soundtrack all we had to do was  drag and drop the movie in the given place and then start the editing.

There were hundreds of given tunes/music and we had to go through them and select the ones we wanted to put on to the clip of Arlington road.

Once we had found the rite tune for us we simply had to drag and drop the sound on to the time line in the correct place and time that we wanted it to be. To adjust the length we wanted we simply had to drag it to the time we wanted.

There was many different sounds however our group decided on just one. We though that we didn't want to over do it however we wanted just enough to make an effect.

We decided that we didn't want the sound to play throughout the clip because after a while git began to get a bit boring so we shortened it and ended it when we thought it would be right to do so.
We then had to save it with all the right setting and then import it on to final cut pro where we would be able to do the final edits to it.

Once we got i t on final cut pro we decided to fade the picture and sound in and out to add better effect. We were able to adjust the sound at certain points in the clip for effect and we were also able to adjust the volume of the non-diegetic sound in total on the clip by dragging down the red bar on the sequence line.
