Planning

The genre assigned to us is 'Thriller'. We tried to decide what type of sub-genre would be used in our opening. We decided that we'd make a psychological thriller, however we used intertextuality to include elements of the suspense-thriller 2003 film 'Phonebooth'

We included the sole element of the film 'Phonebooth', which is the phonebooth itself. In our thriller opening we initially decided that the phonebooth would begin ringing and a woman would answer it which she is then ordered to follow the callers instructions otherwise she'd be killed. However, we then knew that we had taken too much elements from the storyline of 'Phonebooth'. We altered it so instead of having the caller give her instructions over the phone, she'd be ordered to go to a specific location to pick up a bag and receive instructions from there so as to not cross the line between borrowing and stealing from 'Phonebooth'. It was decided that we would name the film 'Inside' to indicate that the woman is stuck inside the phonebox, physically and mentally, where the caller maintains all power.
